Freshly hatched at local Day Nursery

image: Freshly hatched at local Day NurseryKiddi Caru Day Nursery based at the Langage Business Park in Plympton have just hatched their own chicks.

Children of pre-school age at the nursery have been learning about how things grow. As part of the project they have been focussing on how animals grow, in particular, chickens. The children were given their very own egg to look after with an incubator all provided by a local farm. Each day the children were responsible for turning and watering their egg until they hatched in to little fluffy chicks. And the caring did not stop there, once hatched the children have been feeding the little chicks and giving them plenty of cuddles. When the chicks are old enough they will be returned to the farm to roam free.

Tracey Noble, Nursery Manager comments, ‘At Kiddi Caru we have a passionate belief in the benefits of quality nursery provision and the educational development of the children in our care. This has been an excellent experience for the children and a unique learning experience, not only to see how animals grow but for the children to be given the responsibility to care for something.’

Kiddi Caru, Plympton has recently achieved an excellent OfSTED report with health, hygiene and safety receiving outstanding marks.
