Raksha Bandhan festival celebrated at local nursery

In India this is one of the most important festivals and is celebrated by many Indians whatever their religion. The festival is essentially celebrated between brothers and sisters. On the day of the festival the sister ties a Rakhi on her brother’s right wrist, if she does not have a brother then she ties it on her cousin’s wrist. The Rakhi is silk thread twisted or plaited together and decorated with beads or jewels and it symbolises trust, affection and love.

Children at the nursery made their own Rakhi which they shared with their friends and then celebrated by dancing together dressed in saris, a traditional outfit worn by Indians.
